The Superpower Every Founder That Hits It Big Has (And How to Cultivate It) in 20 Minutes
How to Build an Obsession-Worthy Brand with Proof Optional Vision
For the founder, creator, or dreamer standing at the edge of their next big chapter, this post is for you.
This is the secret I’ve seen behind every magnetic brand, bestselling offer, or cult-following product I’ve helped bring to life: something I call proof optional vision.
This is the type of vision you hold long before there are numbers, followers, or media features to prove you’re on the right track. It’s the deep, sometimes messy, often misunderstood knowing inside you that says:
"I see it. I know it’s mine. Now I just need to catch up to it."
It’s not ego. It’s not fantasy. It’s a necessary kind of delusional clarity — and every obsession-worthy founder I’ve ever worked with has it.
The Sunglasses Brand That Started on a Bike
Let me tell you a story.
Back in 2012, I ran a fashion incubator in New Orleans. One of the brands in that program? A tiny sunglasses company called Krewe. Back then, the founder was literally riding a bike cart around the city, selling frames by hand.
The product wasn’t polished yet. There was no flashy marketing budget. But the founder had proof optional vision. He knew where the brand was headed. And today? Krewe is a CFDA-awarded, celebrity-worn, cult-favorite label.
That’s the power of proof optional vision.
You Can’t Always Teach It, But You Can Build Around It
Here’s the truth: you can’t always teach proof optional vision, but you can recognize it. And when you do, you can build everything else around it.
When I was running that incubator, we didn’t have funding or a big press machine. Instagram was barely a business tool. What we did have was a belief that if we could give the right people the right structure, they could create something extraordinary.
Some of those designers went on to win CFDA awards, land LVMH recognition, and work with major brands. One was Christopher John Rogers, who joined us when he was still in high school.
What did they all have in common?
That quiet, often misunderstood, proof optional vision.
How to Build Vision Before You’re Ready
I’ll tell you from my own experience, the journey is rarely linear. My own brand, Casa Noon, was quietly living inside me over a decade ago when I was launching my first fashion line. Back then, I didn’t know the steps. I didn’t know the formulation process, the labs, the proprietary ingredients, or the global supply chain.
But the vision was louder than the fear. Louder than the obstacles. Louder than the logic.
Even after setbacks — like spending two years in development with the wrong partner, missing huge opportunities, and starting from scratch — I didn’t quit. That’s the power of proof optional vision. You keep going because you already see the end point, even when it hasn’t arrived yet.
Three Smart Girl Tips for Cultivating Proof Optional Vision
If this kind of clarity doesn’t feel natural to you, don’t worry. You can absolutely build it. Here are three ways to start:
1. Build an Archive of Future Memories
Instead of only journaling what’s happening now, start writing down what you know is coming. Describe the dream media feature. The glowing client testimonials. The day-to-day of running your successful brand.
This isn’t just manifestation fluff — it’s pattern recognition training. You’re teaching your brain to spot the future you’re moving toward.
2. Create Before You’re Ready
Start sharing your brand vibe before you have the perfect offer or product. Show sneak peeks, share the why, and post aspirational content that reflects your audience’s future self.
Done is better than perfect. Acting as if success is inevitable creates momentum.
3. Surround Yourself With People Who See Your Magic
Find mentors, collaborators, or communities who see your brilliance before the metrics show up. Proof optional vision is contagious when you’re in rooms with others who operate with that frequency.
The truth is, most people aren’t building the wrong business — they’re just playing too small.
